<p>Le <b>Volet Windows</b> (en <a href="Anglais" title="Anglais">anglais</a> <b>Windows Sidebar</b>) est un <a href="Widget_de_bureau" class="mw-redirect" title="Widget de bureau">widget de bureau</a> inclus dans <a href="Microsoft_Windows_Vista" class="mw-redirect" title="Microsoft Windows Vista">Windows Vista</a> et <a href="Windows_7" title="Windows 7">Windows 7</a>, sorti officiellement le <time class="nowrap date-lien" datetime="2007-01-30" data-sort-value="2007-01-30"><a href="30_janvier" title="30 janvier">30</a> <a href="Janvier_2007" title="Janvier 2007">janvier</a> <a href="2007_en_informatique" title="2007 en informatique">2007</a></time> pour le grand public.

<p>Windows Sidebar se présente sous forme de barre latérale présente à droite de l'écran par défaut. Il est également possible d'ajouter différents <a href="Widget_de_bureau" class="mw-redirect" title="Widget de bureau">widgets</a> sur le <a href="Bureau_(informatique)" class="mw-redirect" title="Bureau (informatique)">bureau</a> <a href="Microsoft_Windows" title="Microsoft Windows">Windows</a>.
</p><p>Sous Windows 7, Windows Sidebar est rebaptisé Windows Desktop Gadgets, et la barre latérale elle-même n'est pas incluse dans Windows 7. Windows Desktop Gadgets est inclus dans toutes les versions bêta de Windows 8, mais n'est pas intégrée à la version finale. Depuis <time class="nowrap" datetime="2012-07" data-sort-value="2012-07">juillet 2012</time>, <a href="Microsoft" title="Microsoft">Microsoft</a> déconseille l'utilisation de cette fonctionnalité en raison de failles de vulnérabilité<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> et ne propose plus aucun gadget en téléchargement<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. </p><p>À l'origine, Microsoft fournissait un lien vers un site web appelé Windows Live Gallery où il était possible de télécharger des gadgets supplémentaires pour la barre latérale créés par des développeurs tiers.
